Potential Consulting

- Concise consulting of small and medium-sized companies (KMUs)

The ministry of Labour of the federal state of NRW started the project "Potenzialberatung KMU" in 2001, in order to investigate potentials of companies and to introduce the implementation of first necessary steps. Among other things, this includes the examination of internal and external processes, the evaluation of chances and risks, the analysis of qualification requirements of employees.

As top targets, the State government NRW formulated:

- Strengthening the competitiveness
- Securing and developing of workplaces/jobs.

In order to make consulting successful, the following demands must be met:

- Active participation of the company itself
- Inclusion of the staff and employee committee,
- External support of consulting firms
- Independence of the consultant (advantageous here: Quality check by the BDU),
- Consulting on-site.

The consulting is co-financed proportionately by the federal state and the European Social Fund (ESF) and addresses exclusively enterprises with headquarters in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The potential consulting serves the work-oriented modernization of enterprises, building on the cognitions of the programs QUATRO and ADAPT, by which selective methods and concepts have been developed and tested in the last five years.

The extent of this consulting depends on size of the company:

Number of employees Subsidized extent (in FTE)
1 to 49: 5 to 10
50 to 250: 5 to 15

Maximum grant (per consulting day): 500 Euro

In harmonization with the Ministry of Labour, G.I.B put in charge of the measure, Gayer Consulting selected the following consulting approach:

- Phase system of a potential consulting

Methodically, the potential consulting should enable companies, by means of a participation-oriented analysis by external advisors to recognize their success potentials and limiting factors, to develop an action plan for optimization of operational procedures and to implement first steps.

The clear focus of the consulting approach is thus definitely on personnel development and Marketing. Costs and finance analyses are not executed within the potential consulting.

- Why a potential analysis?

Finally, you work out an operational action plan, which beside the results of the analysis contains measures, suited, for example, to open up new marketing prospects,

- to increase the awareness degree of your company,
- to let the contentment of your customers be measured and assessed
- to increase the competitiveness, in that procedures are improved
- selected employees be qualified according to company needs,
- to build team structures or to improve them

Entitled to apply are all enterprises with headquarters in NRW, and fitting
the size criterion "KMU", i.e. 1 to 250 employees, and in the industry, and / or service industry, exclusive energy, coal and steel area.

The application for subsidies is to be submitted to the regional secretariat (with consulting company gladly support filling out the forms). The subsidy will normally be granted fast and with little bureaucracy.

The program is budgeted with 200 million Euro and will run until the end of 2006.
